Artist In Residence: Aminata Soumaré
Bio
Aminata Soumaré is a Malian-Belgian multidisciplinary artist based in Brussels. Currently completing her master’s degree in Radio at RITCS School of Arts, she explores the intersection of sound, movement, and performance. Deeply inspired by hip-hop as both an art form and a cultural movement, her work often incorporates archival elements, treating them like samples to be reshaped and reimagined into something new. She creates intimate spaces designed to be uncomfortably pierced, challenging perceptions and inviting audiences into thought-provoking experiences.
The Residency (2025): Jezebel, Mammy, Sapphire
Jezebel, Mammy, Sapphire will be a piece that examines the image and representation of black women in media.
During her residency she will be exploring how an audio collage can be brought to life through movement and spatialisation, using MoCap to create a realtime composition. And exploring spatialisation on IPEM’s ambisonics setup.
